Why Paddleboard Yoga?

See paddleboard yoga in action!

Because it is so much FUN! Paddleboard Yoga is an invitation to be playful and curious. It brings a unique challenge, but it is also surprisingly accessible to people of all ability levels. While requiring focus and concentration— a “be here now” mentality— it's also a chance to be a kid on the water again, and connect with our natural surroundings.

You may be surprised how different yoga on the water feels from land yoga. From Mountain Pose to Downward Dog, everything becomes about balance and core strength, making paddleboard yoga a total body workout as well as an amazing way to connect mind, body and spirit. Savasana on the water, with birdsong as our playlist...it is truly a magical experience. Classes are for all levels, from yoga or paddleboard novices to yoga instructors and paddleboard experts!

Paddleboard yoga classes are held on the Canoe Canal near Autzen Stadium. The two-hour class begins with a 10 minute basic introduction to paddling. Then, we take a 10 minute paddle to Big Pond where we anchor our boards and enjoy an hour of yoga. Coming full circle, we float back home. Class sizes are small, with a maximum of eight students, pre-registration is required. Classes are $40, boards and gear included.

testimonials

"I cannot think of a better way to spend a summer evening than on a SUP practicing yoga with Jess. She creates an experience that is accessible and enjoyable for all levels of yogis and SUPers and she provides everything you need from instruction to equipment (and even fresh melon at the end). All you have to do is show up and soak up and savor the magic and joy of the unique combination of sun, warmth, water, wildlife, yoga and Jess."

"By meeting Jess I was brought to the wonderful world of SUP yoga. With spending the majority of my life on the Black Sea, I started swimming when I was 3 years old. Living pretty far from easy access to warm ocean water, these classes are my remedy. I get the best out of it by strengthening my body and soul. Thank you Jess for the beautiful time and soul that you share with our community."

— Jenya Y.

"Jess’s paddleboard yoga class is absolutely lovely. It encompasses two of my favorite activities into one beautifully, blissful package. When you are done you feel strong, energized and at peace."
